In 1862, Dimitri Tarazi founded his first
gallery and manufacturing company of silk trade embroideries, carpets,
old coppers and artistic pieces of furniture in oriental style customary
in Beirut and then in Damascus.
With the later opening of branches in Jerusalem, Cairo and Alexandria,
"Dimitri Tarazi and Sons" became the suppliers of His Imperial
Majesty the Sultan Ottoman and several royal courts of Europe. |

"Alfred and Emile Tarazi
& Sons", opened in Rabat (Morocco) in 1936 and later opened
branches in Damascus (Syria) in 1940, and within the Alcazar Hotel
situated in the St-Georges Bay, Beirut (Lebanon) in 1959.
"Alfred and Emile Tarazi & Sons" increased the value
of Eastern style painted woodworks and has since restored several
oriental rooms in the Middle East and abroad. This family firm aided
in the restoration of several palaces, one being the prestigious palace
of Henri Pharaon in Beirut. |

In the Eighties, Michel Emile Tarazi continued
in the line of his father in the family business. In 1988, he opened
his own gallery and workshop in Brummana (Lebanon) and contributed
to the restoration of old oriental rooms.
Recently, he carried out the interior design of the"Salon Ottoman"
in the prestigious "Résidence des Pins", home of
the French Ambassador in Beirut. This project included restoration
of its monumental gate, which had been erected earlier in 1917 by
his grandfather. |
